Rep. Mike Levin’s Statement on Vote for the 2025 Short-Term Government Funding Bill

Washington, D.C.- Tonight, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) released the following statement regarding his final vote for the 2025 short-term government funding bill.

“I just voted for a bill to fund the government and avoid a catastrophic shutdown right before the holiday season.

“Democrats prevailed over the demands of Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

“Time and time again, Democrats have been the adults in the room to prevent House Republicans from enacting dangerous and misguided policy that will hurt everyday Americans.

“We avoided Republicans’ attempts to increase the debt ceiling and greenlight tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk, and we brought home $250 million for the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant to help clean up the Tijuana River Valley pollution crisis.

“But make no mistake, this bill does not include everything it should have, and Speaker Johnson has broken all trust with the Democratic Caucus. Assuming Johnson remains Speaker, I hope that he learns that the only way to get real work done for the American people with a paper-thin majority is on a bipartisan basis.”
